[:nl]Je MOET een visie hebben voor je merk[:en]Why you need VISION to build a brand [:]

I started my copywriting business in 2011. My fuel was my love for writing. I thought that was what I had to do here. I had identified with my role as a writer for so long, that I focused on this for years. The problem was that I never had a very clear vision that was bigger than that.

So what happened?

As soon as that love for writing became daily business, I got tired of it. Doing the same thing every day, while having to reinvent my skills for each individual client… it felt like a time-consuming process that didn’t have a lot of impact. Sure, clients were happy, but I wasn’t entirely. And as a result, I felt the stress accumulating.

Especially when at some point I was working 80 hours a week and my arm starting signalling me to give it a rest, I knew that my focus on writing only wasn’t long-lived.

What was the problem?

What I lacked, was vision. I never really visualized what I was doing it for. And I never realized that my role was not necessarily to be a writer, but to be a channel for a message that was bigger than me. Because of this, I didn’t feel like my writing really was of any importance.

I changed everything. My arm told me to. The rest of my body told me to as well.

In 2017 I started a process that forced me to look at the bigger picture. And oh my, how grateful I am because of this! Rearranging my content, my skills and knowledge helped me to see ‘what could be’. Because of that, I realized there was more to being an entrepreneur than having a business.

And even though I can get caught up in daily business, I do feel a lot more connected to my overall message than before.

A vision helps you connect to the importance of what you’re REALLY doing

Why? Because I have a clear vision. I see what’s possible: a world in which entrepreneurs make impact with their REBELICIOUS personality. And even though I may not be able to do this alone, or it may never completely happen, I am still fueled by this vision of the future.

Here’s the thing… if you cannot see the future, you cannot do anything valuable in the NOW.

You need to have a vision. That’s not the same as your mission – your mission is the role you play to get to that ideal world. You need a vision to be bigger than you and your brand. That’s your FIRE and what fires up your clients too :).

Never loose sight of the bigger picture, dear friend. Your BRAND can only make real impact if you know what you’re doing it for.
